LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL

Last Friday, we celebrated Diego's 7th birthday! I can't believe that my baby is now 7 (going on 25!). We booked a party at McDonald's (sorry for the lack of creativity on my part!) from 4:30 to 6, an hour and a half after his classes ended. He had 14 guests -- 10 boys, 3 brothers of classmates, and one girl.

Alex was the only girl who showed up! But she was very game. She isn't one of those girly-girls who rolls her eyeballs over the silly games that boys play. She was all in pink and in a skirt, but she held her own against the boys.
It was really wild! Imagine an enclosed area with 15 boys! There were a few punches thrown, some kids got hurt, but they were all up and running within 30 seconds.

Even if the party was officially only up to 6 pm, the visitors and their parents were not making any moves to leave! Finally, at 6:30, we were able to leave. We were supposed to eat dinner at Chili's but Diego wanted to go home and open his presents. Besides, we invited Willbur to join us, and we had promised his mom that we would have him home by 8 pm. In any case, they enjoyed themselves eating the white chocolate mudcake I made, and playing with the presents he got.

Diego was very happy, he got some really good presents! Lucky for his parents, because then he didn't mind that all we got him was a 3 volume set of Sonic DVDs.

THE EAGLE HAS LANDED

This was the day Oli and I had long planned for. After numerous phone and e-mail consultations, the Aussie Barbie to welcome Fr. Johnny finally pushed through! We had it at Oli's house in Ingleburn. Fr. Johnny was brought to Oli's house at 4 pm by some of his old friends and we immediately got down to catching up. I know you will forgive me for having only a few pictures. The kuwentohan was just too good, I didn't want to miss anything because I was busy taking pictures.
We had an abundance of food and drinks -- steak, sausages, beer (in true Aussie tradition) and salad, lasagna and strawberry cheesecake (to break away ever so slightly from the Aussie tradition). We hardly got up from the dinner table the whole evening!
At 8:40 pm, Oli and I put Fr. Johnny on a train back to St. Aloysius in the city, where he is staying. Oli and I had a bit of a panic because we weren't sure if we put him on the right train! But when Oli texted him, we figured out that yes, he did get on the right train, and he did get home in time for his self-imposed curfew of 10 pm. The kwentohan was great, everybody agreed it was bitin, so we are going to make every effort to meet up at least one more time before Fr. Johnny leaves for Melbourne on Thursday. I will post more pictures (kung meron!
