ANOTHER XAVIER REUNION

Last Friday, Edge and I went over to Oli's house to see another Xavier colleague who was in town and available to see us only on that day -- none other than the former Grade School Science teacher, Marivic Queja! Mavic, Oli and Edge were together in the Grade 6 team when we were all still teaching at Xavier. Mavic was there with her husband Lex, and her three children.

We spent the night reminiscing about Xavier, about the days when we were still applying to migrate to Australia. We compared notes on living in Brisbane and Sydney. We caught up on the new things going on in each other's lives. Here is the update we received:

Mavic works helping out in children's playgroups. She says it is a very easy job, no pressures at all. Parents organize playgroups wherein their children can get together and play with other kids, and Mavic is there to (I'm not really sure about this part) make sure the program is implemented, and that the children are playing safely. She says the job is very easy because the parents are there anyway, supervising their kids, so there isn't much left for her to do. She says though, that it can get boring, and it isn't something that she'd want to do for the rest of her life. Mavic shared further that she and Lex applied to a nursing program in Queensland. Just a few days ago, they found out that they were both eligible to join the program! Lex, who was an accountant in Manila, and now works as a bus driver, seems keen on pursuing a nursing degree. Mavic is still deciding if this is something she wants to do.

Another thing that we made a fuss about that evening was Oli's new sala set. It is so beautiful! It looks like a page taken out of the IKEA catalogue! I wonder when I will get to have a sala like this?

Mavic and family spent the night at Oli's because they just took the train from their relative's house. Edge and I went home relatively early, because we had left the kids with Mom and Gogi, and had promised them we would only be gone a few hours.

It was good to see Mavic again. We really made the effort to see her because we don't know when we will get the chance to see her again, as she lives in Queensland. I am also glad I got to see all the Xavier teachers who now live in Australia, even if we are scattered across 3 states!
