IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!
OK. It's official.
I HAVE A JOB!!!!!!!!
Starting Monday, December 19, 9 a.m. (in the morning hahaha...)I will be starting my permanent full-time job as Child Protection Caseworker under the Department of Community Services. The lady who called me up this afternoon (one of the big bosses in the St Marys branch) said that it is a good time to start. I will have a few days of work, and then have paid holidays immediately! She excitedly told me about the flexible hours of work, how I can have a long lunch break today and make up for it tomorrow; how there might be times when I have to prepare to go to COURT (as in "Your honor", as in "I object!", so I might have to stay until 7 pm sometimes. Work hours can be anytime between 7 am to 10 pm. My schedule will be worked out with my immediate supervisor, I guess sometime on my first day. She also said soemthing about if I work 14 extra hours (per week? per month? I will have to clarify...), I can get one or two days off for the month. The big boss seemed to really like the job and all the benefits that go with it. People have also been telling us that the best job to get is a government job because of the good pay and the great benefits. As long as you don't mess up, you're set for life daw! Sana nga!
Because of this, Edge can tender his resignation (as was planned, when we were supposed to live off his annual leave pay until one of us had found a job) and work on getting accredited under the public schools. He can also take his Masters while working part-time. Best of all, it looks like we all will be able to go to Detroit in April next year, for Papang's and Mamang's 50th wedding anniversary! That is, if my job will let me. After all, I would have been just over 3 months on the job at that time.
Anyway, this job makes us all breathe a little easier and makes more things possible. Best of all, it gives me a sense of stability and usefulness, thus reducing my dramatics by about 75%.
Thanks to Oli Mangahas and Jo Masacupan, who must have given the DoCS glowing reports about me! May utang akong libre sa inyong dalawa! As promised.
YES, IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!!!
